Tour To Zoological Museum

Zoological Museum is a branch of the Moscow State University, and from first days of its existence it was used by the students of Biology school to study, but for now it is an open museum for everybody.

In the museum you can see all groups of animals, from single-celled (most of them are casts of course) to birds and mammals.

On the second floor there is an interesting exhibition called "Museum of Zoology in the history of Moscow University: Collections and people" devoted to the history of the museum from its foundation in the year 1791 within the walls of Moscow University to the present day. Here you can see some of exhibits that appeared in the museum during its first director Fischer von Waldheim, have a look at the museum during its heyday under the directorship of Bogdanov in the second half of 19th century to trace the complicated history of the museum in 20th century. We are pleased to say that the exposure is entirely made of natural items. Historical exposition will be of interest both for specialists - biologists and museum staff, and for everyone interested in the history of Soviet science and nature.
