Usupov's Palace Tour
The Estate of Prince Usupov is located on Moika river embankment and during the time when Usupov and his family used to live there it was the richest estate in St. Petersburg. In spacious park there is a huge baroque Palace, roomy enough to host receptions, direct plays in a home theatre and receive guests.
This Palace has a very complicated history: after it was build, it has been sold and bought, and given as a gift quite a few times, until it was finally bought by Usupov and belonged to their family for five generations.
Usupov family had a good taste, so when they got the Palace it took them eight years to rebuild it and make it perfect outside and inside. Interiors of the Palace remained the same for years, and now you have a great opportunity to see the rooms the way they were decorated when Usupov family lived there.
The Palace is also famous for being a place where Grigory Rasputin was murdered. Felix Usupov, the last owner of the Palace, participated in murder and was deprived of the Palace for it.
