The Armory – Oruzheinaya Palata in Russian – is one of the oldest museums in Moscow, but publicly it has been firstly opened in the middle of the 19th century. It is world-famous for Tsar's artifacts: you can discover golden crusted icons, bejeweled royal scepters, and exquisitely carved thrones and another states' regalia and ceremonial objects. The collection of the museum consists of jewelry, armor, court dresses and religious vestments, Catherine the Great's glorious coronation dress. One of the most loved by tourists' item in the museum is the famous Monomachus cap, the crown of the Russian tsars.

One more well-known item is a collection of Faberge Easter eggs. Each egg is renown for its great beauty and excellence of form and shows an outstanding skill of the craftsman who made it. The Armory now contains about 4,000 exhibits dated in the range of 12th century to the first half of 20th century.
