The State Russian Museum Tour
The State Russian Museum was established in 1895 by Nicholas II. Originally it was a collection of Russian arts composed of Hermitage Museum and Imperial Academy of Arts, but later after the Revolution few nationalized collections were added to the museum.
In our days its collection includes Russian and Soviet paintings, sculptures, graphics, furniture, tissues – 394 158 exhibits at all. Aivazovskiy, Brullov, Rublev and other famous Russian artists from X-XX centuries are fully presented in the museum. It is a widest collection of Russian art in the world, that's why Russian Museum is very important and widely acknowledged.
Aside from the main exhibition the museum launches up to 50 temporary exhibitions a year in Russia and abroad. Also museum is an important center of historical and cultural education. In addition to Mikhailovskiy Palace the museum also occupies Marble and Stroganov Palace, Mikhailovskiy Castle and Summer Palace of Peter I.
