The Museum of Matryoshka is quite specific. There is a wide range of dolls, which represents the largest range of ages of items exhibited. On the shelves of the museum you can see both large and small exhibits, modern and old enough, avantgarde and classical.
Among the extensive collection of dolls there are truly unique examples. One doll could be made of three to thirty pieces. Many have already forgotten about the existence of such a fun toy. The largest doll presented at the exhibition has fifty other dolls inside. The smallest doll is just a few millimeters in height.
One of the most important aspects is that each of exhibited items is a unique product of handiwork. It is impossible to give a precise estimate on when each doll was made, but some experts say that their production could be accounted for the beginning of 20th century. At that time dolls were introduced at the Paris Exhibition, where they were a part of collection of applied arts.
