Tour To Gzhel Museum

Gzhel is one of the largest ceramic centers of Russian culture. It has long been famous for its clay Gzhel. Wide production of different types of clay was carried here since the middle of 17th century.

The unique look of ceramic products have stayed the same from the very beginning, it has been passed from generation to generation. Working skills, respect for the precious materials, love of nature, which gave the opportunity to Gzhel to be born are all known since the 14th century.

When you visit Gzhel you'll be in touch with the mystery of the porcelain and majolica. In production shops you will see the manufacturing process of Gzhel products, experienced staff will provide you with the necessary advice and answer your questions. After you learn about the process of working with ceramics and specifics of traditional painting, you'll be able to participate in a workshop in order to make a Gzhel product with your own hands.

You can also visit the workshops in sculpting and painting Gzhel, where under the guidance of experienced masters you will be able to make use of your knowledge and produce a piece of Gzhel with your own hands.

The tour includes:

Visiting the Museum Gzhel (1 hour)

Historical Section - the development and establishment of fisheries in the 14th century to the present day;
The exhibition of modern masters Gzhel;
Exposure - continuing education of children: children's garden, an art school, college, college.

Visiting Production (1 hour)

Introduction to the process of manufacturing porcelain.
