Tour To The Cold War Museum

The Cold War Museum originally was the Tagansky Protected Command Point - top-secret Soviet military facility - Spare Range Aviation Command Post (ET-42). Territory of the museum is an underground bunker: it is located 60 meters underground and protected from the outside by dome made of a concrete with thickness of 6 meters. The bunker consists of four blocks, tunnels with a total area of 7,000 square meters, connected by junctions.

The bunker was built in 1951 on request of the Ministry of Defence, when world was afraid of possibility of the Third World War. It was assumed that the bunker would protect the country's ruling elite and make it able to command a staff of a long-range aircraft.

During the tour you will watch a documentary about the bunker's history and then with the guide you will explore its engineering facilities, corridors, and life support systems. At the end of the tour you will be unforgettably surprised by an imitation of a nuclear explosion that will show you how the bunker would have worked if it happened in real life in 60s.
